The new banner is Conway’s Game Of Life. To quote Wikipedia:

The Game of Life, also known simply as Life, is a cellular automaton devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970

This version is in a small playing space for speed, and is lightly mouse interactive (try moving the mouse over the banner).
